| Latest News - Tuesday, November 16, 2010What a wonderful event we had the night before Heritage Day! We learned about and celebrated the rich diversity, heritage and cultural experiences of our GES families. I sincerely appreciate the families who displayed at the event and shared so much with us. I would also like to thank the GES staff and families who supported and attended our second annual program. Although the big program is over, the efforts of the group have just begun. Following this educational event, we hope to establish closer bonds and friendships. We hope to encourage dialogue: friendly conversation as well as intelligent questions about our diversities so that we have greater awareness and knowledge of our larger, combined GES family. Introduce yourself to someone you don't know next time you're at school with your children! We hope that you will encourage your children to make new friends and have a sense of their global community; to know that each person makes up the one body of GES, of Grapevine, of the United States. We hope that the students who are part of other diverse cultures will be proud of their heritage and teach others. Look for more information on PTA's website at www.gespta.org. GCISD also has a new section on their website devoted to diversity and the efforts of the newly created Diversity Advisory Council ("DAC"): from the top menu click on "Departments and Programs" then under the letter D "Diversity Advisory Council". If you want information or have questions about the DAC, Windows on the World, or any related issues, comments, suggestions, or ideas, e-mail me at cwalgren@verizon.net.

| Windows on The World - Sunday, July 25, 2010
 |
If you’re interested in helping to educate our students and parents about your heritage and ethnicity, join our group called "Windows on the World".
We would like to learn about other cultures and embrace the diversity we have at GES. Our 2nd annual Windows on the World program will be on Thursday, November 18th directly after the PTA General Meeting that starts at 6:45pm. Once we get an idea of who would like to participate, we will meet and come up with what we want to do this year! Please contact Carolyn Ann Walgren at cwalgren@verizon.net. |
